Planned Parenthood in September launched a so-called 'emergency contraception' phone service in September that in reality provides access to prescriptions for an abortifacent that kills the baby before implantation in the mother's womb.
Planned Parenthood calls the phone service 'Dial EC' (emergency contraception).
The American Life League charges that the Dial EC program is largely directed at young people.
Harris scores upset
Dr. Andrew Harris upset the political apple cart in the Maryland primary elections September 15 by defeating incumbent Vernon Boozer for the Republican nomination for State Senate, 9th District. Senate Minority Leader Boozer, who has a pro-abortion voting record, acknowledged that he lost on the abortion issue. The Towson Times quoted him as saying he couldn't think of a better issue to go down on. Neither can we, Mr. Boozer.

Pro-lifers came out in force to deliver the votes for Andy Harris: (from left) Mart Mucha, Natalie Gaburur, Michelle Mucha and tireless poll-organizer Sheila Wharam.
Pro-life senate candidates David Maier Dave Maier is the Republican candidate for State Senate, District 12. His Democratic opponent, incumbent Edward Kasemeyer, voted this year to send legislation banning partial birth abortion back to committee, thus effectively killing the legislation. Maier has spoken out strongly against partial birth abortion and the murder of unborn children. As the father of five, one of whom is adopted, he has respect for the sanctity of life. This is Dave's second run for the District 12 seat, which was narrowly won in 1994 by Kasemeyer. A life-long resident of Elkridge, Maier has been active in community and county organizations since his early twenties. Dave needs people to hand out literature in their neighborhoods and at the polls on November 3. He can be contacted at 410-796-7889 or 410-796-5851.
Bob Hooper Robert Hooper, the pro-life Republican candidate for State Senate in the 35th District, Harford County, will face off against incumbent Democrat Donald Fry in the November 3 general election. Mr. Fry, a Catholic, voted to send the bill banning partial birth abortion back to committee, a move that killed the bill. Bob, who has served as a county councilman in Harford County for two terms, helped build a family business employing over 100 people. The father of four and grandfather of six, he has been active at Fawn Grove Church of the Nazarene as a Sunday school teacher, and as a church board member and trustee. Bob also helped start Harford's Little League Soccer program. Anyone wishing to help Bob's campaign may contact him at 410-877-7400. His website address is www.bobhooper.com.

The three 8th District Democratic candidates, Curran, Klausmeier and Vizzi, have been unresponsive when asked about pro-life issues. Incumbent Katherine Klausmeier's voting record is generally pro- abortion. Joe and his wife Betty have four children. A sales representative for a local printer, Joe has been active in the Kiwanis Club of Perry Hall, the White Marsh YMCA, and the Maryland Taxpayers Association.
